After a decade: The iconic Ben & Jerry's flavor returns to shelves

For about two weeks, Ben & Jerry's held a campaign designed to choose which nostalgic flavor would return to the freezers. Dozens of flavors whose production was discontinued over the years appear in the "Flavor Graveyard" on the company's website, and from them, five candidates were chosen for the final stage. After additional days of voting, it was decided that the flavor that would receive the most votes and return to the shelves is Chubby Hubby, which is considered one of the flavors most identified with the brand.

The legendary flavor combines creamy vanilla ice cream with peanut butter-covered pretzel chunks and fudge, alongside peanut butter and fudge swirls. The combination of sweet, salty, crunchy, and creamy has made it particularly beloved among ice cream fans over the years. Behind its invention lies an unusual story: two employees decided to play a prank on a coworker and convinced him that there was a flavor made up of all his favorite foods. After the employee contacted Ben & Jerry's to find out where the flavor could be purchased, the company was enthusiastic about the idea and turned the prank into a real product.

This current return is expected to be permanent, unlike previous comebacks of "Chubby Hubby," in which it appeared for a limited time only. The flavor was brought back in the past in several short stints, including a focused comeback at the end of 2016, but has since disappeared from the shelves again. Now it is expected to return to retail chains and grocery stores at a price of about 24.50 shekels, so that fans of the nostalgic flavor will be able to enjoy it on an ongoing basis.
