After decades: The renowned beverage brand is changing its taste
The long-standing beverage brand is updating its classic recipe and bringing lime to the forefront. Alongside the change in taste, the packaging will also undergo a facelift with a neon design and a new logo. The company is aiming for the heart of Generation Z | All the details

Commercial companies and branding agencies usually avoid making dramatic changes to familiar products, fearing consumer reaction and damage to brand loyalty. Despite this, the iconic carbonated beverage brand 7UP is now taking dramatic steps, updating the drink's recipe for the first time in nearly two decades.
The carbonated, caffeine-free drink, first created in 1928 and enjoying a loyal fan base around the world and in Israel, is undergoing a significant refresh. As part of the change, the familiar lemon flavor moves slightly to the back, while lime takes center stage. The updated recipe has already begun reaching shelves in retail chains in the regular version, the Zero Sugar version, and even the cherry version.
The change is not limited to taste alone, but also includes a redesigned and prominent look for the packaging. Shelves will be filled with bottles and cans bearing a new vertical logo, more prominent neon colors, and bold lettering of "Lime-Lemon" instead of the traditional "Lemon-Lime" order that expressed the old flavor profile.
The company declares that this is the biggest move made by the company in many years. Behind the festive declarations lies a vital strategy aimed at young consumers: according to the company's data, members of Generation Z prefer sourer, more intense, and dominant citrus flavor profiles. In a world where Sprite continues to hold a strong position and at the same time new brands exert pressure, 7UP understood that they must create clear differentiation to remain relevant.
