Reservists call on Chief of Staff to stop "Jewish terror" in Qusra

Against the backdrop of a blockade on Palestinian homes in the village of Qusra in Samaria, which the IDF is failing to manage, a petition published on Wednesday titled "The Reservists' Letter against Jewish Terror" calls on Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir to act "to stop the Jewish terror and root it out."

According to the organizers, more than 300 reservists have signed the petition. "We are reserve soldiers who have served hundreds of days since October 7, including in Judea and Samaria, where we risked our lives for the security of Israel," the letter states. "We are determined to continue to defend Israel, but we feel that the IDF leadership is abandoning us in the field. Nationalist terror in Judea and Samaria does not cease, and we are required again and again to stand between sides in 'friction events' without tools or a real mandate to prevent them."

The signatories argue that the lack of guidance from IDF leadership and the turning of a blind eye to Jewish terror endanger soldiers. "Not one or two soldiers have already been harmed or lost their lives as a result of these events," they note, adding that the involvement of uniformed security squad (Gamar) members in these incidents tarnishes the name of the IDF.

Maj. (res.) Aviad Huminer Rosenblum, who has served 270 days since October 7, said: "We are abandoned by the IDF's senior command and the elected echelon. We are forced to risk our lives due to the increase in Jewish terror and deliberate friction by inciting elements." Capt. (res.) Tom Pinchasi added that the situation in Qusra has become routine: "Armed groups operate almost undisturbed, and the IDF finds itself dragged into protecting a fanatical minority instead of enforcing the law."

Chairman of the Democrats party, Maj. Gen. (res.) Yair Golan, also condemned the blockade: "The anarchy that the Netanyahu-Smotrich-Ben Gvir government is leading in Judea and Samaria endangers IDF soldiers and harms Israel's security. A government that encourages chaos and terror is an asset to antisemitism." He vowed that his party would fight all forms of terror with an "iron fist."

Despite IDF claims that they cleared the "shed" used by extremists to block three families, footage from the scene shows the situation remains volatile. Council head Abd al-Azim Wadi reported that chaos prevails as groups of settlers continue to arrive. The petition also references the recent attack in the village of Tel, in which Maj. Yuval Ezra and standby squad member Binyahu Malet were killed.
