Israel Police have ramped up speeding enforcement using A-3 traffic cameras, issuing over 367,000 fines this year following a shift to risk-based thresholds.

Eilat police arrested a driver caught speeding at 217 km/h on Route 90 under suspected drug influence, leading to a swift indictment and detention request.

Traffic police officers were deployed on Highway 60 in the south as part of an operation against speeding. A 19-year-old new driver was caught driving at 201 km/h in a 90 km/h zone, attempted to escape by turning off his vehicle's lights, and was subsequently arrested.

The Traffic Division of the Israel Police is updating the enforcement thresholds for speed cameras, which will come into effect in the coming days. The move is part of the ongoing effort to combat road fatalities, which have claimed 270 lives since the beginning of the year.
