A new synagogue will be built in the Ofek neighborhood of Yeroham in memory of Ori Danino, who was kidnapped from the Nova music festival and murdered in Hamas captivity. The project, backed by an estimated investment of 7.8 million shekels, was announced on Wednesday by the Yeroham Local Council and Danino's family.

Project Details and Timeline

The planned facility will cover a built area of approximately 350 square meters on a 1.1-dunam plot in the heart of the new neighborhood. Construction work is slated to begin in November 2026, with an estimated duration of 18 months, and the doors are expected to open to the public in June 2028.

The initiative is being led by the Yeroham Local Council, the Yeroham Economic Development Company, and the Ministry of Construction. Danino has deep family roots in Yeroham; his mother, Einav Danino, is a member of the local Abarbanel family, and he is the grandson of the late Yitzhak and Aliza Abarbanel.

Community and Memory

"The supreme heroism and mutual guarantee that Ori demonstrated symbolize the spirit of Yeroham and Israel," said Yeroham Mayor Nili Aharon. "Out of the great fracture, we choose to build, grow, and foster life."

Danino was abducted on the morning of October 7, 2023, after assisting in the rescue of festival participants, and was murdered in Hamas captivity in August 2024 alongside five other hostages. The new synagogue aims to serve as a vibrant community center focused on prayer, charity, and unity, honoring his legacy of courage and sacrifice.
