Petah Tikva Court Releases Netanya Criminal Suspected of Arson
The Petah Tikva Magistrates' Court ordered the release of Netanya resident Shaul Sassi, who was arrested on suspicion of arson involving a woman's car and her parents' home.
The Petah Tikva Magistrates' Court ordered the release under restrictive conditions of Shaul Sassi, a known criminal from Netanya, who was arrested by police on suspicion of involvement in setting fire to a woman's car and her parents' front door.
Sassi was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a crime and arson. Police requested a five-day extension of his detention, but during the hearing, defense attorney Vicky Shmuel argued that his client had an alibi and was abroad at the time of the incidents.
Judge Oren Boaz ruled that the evidence presented at this stage did not establish a reasonable suspicion strong enough to justify continuing his detention. Sassi was released on conditions including a two-week ban on entering Netanya and contacting the complainant.
