Cybersecurity unicorn Upwind Security has completed a $400 million funding round, pushing its valuation to $3.8 billion—a sharp increase from its previous $1.5 billion valuation. Bloomberg had reported a month ago that the round would stand at $300 million at the same $3.8 billion valuation. The funding round was led by Bessemer Venture Partners, with participation from Canapi Ventures and existing investors including Cyberstarts, Greylock Partners, Craft Ventures, Leaders Fund, Salesforce Ventures, TCV, Alta Park Capital, Penny Jar Capital, Cerca Partners, Swish Ventures, and Picture Capital. Recent reports indicated that Datadog expressed interest in acquiring the company for a sum comparable to its current valuation, and industry estimates suggest an acquisition remains possible despite the fresh capital injection.

Founded in 2022 by CEO Amiram Shachar and his partners from Spot.io—which was previously acquired by NetApp for $450 million—Upwind specializes in real-time cloud threat analysis rather than retroactive static scanning, enabling major enterprises to drastically reduce false positive alerts. The announcement caps a period of exponential growth for the company, which quadrupled its revenues in 2026 to an estimated $100 million. The valuation surge follows its Series B round of $1.5 billion in January 2026.

"AI is fundamentally transforming both cloud infrastructure architecture and the scope of cyber threats, as well as how organizations build and operate software," said Amiram Shachar, CEO and co-founder of Upwind. "Context is the key to managing internal and external risks, and security teams must understand how cloud and AI interact in real-time."

The company's cloud and AI security platform integrates the context of cloud workloads, APIs, and client agents with real-time intelligence. This gives security, development, and DevOps teams a shared understanding of exploitable risks and critical exposures. "Security must keep pace with environments that AI agents can alter rapidly and at a scale human teams alone cannot match," Shachar added.
