Bus Driver Killed, 19 Injured in Upper Galilee Truck Collision
A 61-year-old bus driver died and 19 others were injured in a collision between a bus and a truck on Route 91 near Mahanayim in the Upper Galilee.
A 61-year-old bus driver was killed on Wednesday afternoon in a collision with a truck near Mahanayim in the Upper Galilee. The truck driver was seriously injured, and 18 young passengers in their twenties sustained minor injuries.
The report of the accident on Route 91 near the Mahanayim Junction was received at 12:00 at the Jordan region dispatch of Magen David Adom. Paramedics evacuated the injured to Ziv Medical Center in Safed.
The 50-year-old truck driver was evacuated by helicopter with lower limb injuries. MDA EMT Gil Ad Ben Chamo stated it was a severe crash with heavy front-end damage to the vehicles, noting that the trapped bus driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
