A prominent criminal who crossed the line and became a police undercover agent succeeded over a period of ten months in implicating dozens of suspects in drug trafficking across the country.

On Wednesday morning, with the exposure of the covert operation conducted by the Central Unit of the Jerusalem District, police forces raided suspects' homes nationwide and arrested 28 individuals on suspicion of involvement in dangerous drug trafficking.

Infiltration of Criminal Networks

The agent, a well-known figure among criminal elements, was recruited to disrupt the drug supply chains leading to Jerusalem. During his deployment, he leveraged his longstanding reputation to gain the trust of drug dealers and infiltrate closed criminal circles.

"No criminal in the field knows this morning whether the next deal will be the one that ends their career and puts them behind bars," said Jerusalem District Commander, Superintendent Avshalom Peled.

Under the direction of the Jerusalem District's undercover unit, the agent carried out dozens of controlled transactions, purchasing commercial quantities of dangerous drugs including cocaine and ecstasy, valued at hundreds of thousands of shekels.

Mass Arrests and Seizures

Following the conclusion of the agent's deployment, police launched a sweeping arrest operation involving forces from the Jerusalem District and other districts, Border Police officers, the National Guard, and the K-9 unit. Over 100,000 shekels in cash, dangerous drugs, and 12 vehicles suspected of being used for drug transport were seized.

The arrested suspects are scheduled to appear in court later today for extension hearings regarding their detention. The investigation is ongoing.
