A hot August in the center: spending time and tasting
From a morning shake to an evening drink, from open-air events to movies, performances, and activities for the whole family — August offers plenty of reasons to get out of the house. Here are some events and places worth marking in your calendar.
100 years to Bat Yam: the celebrations continue
Bat Yam continues to celebrate its 100th anniversary throughout August with a series of cultural, musical, and entertainment events. The promenade will continue to host illuminated fountain shows, while every Saturday night features street performers, light displays, and DJ sets. The municipal amphitheater will host the "Love on the Beach" festival on August 12–13, featuring Aviv Geffen, Monica Sex, Eden Ben Zaken, Dudu Tassa, Riki Gal, and Ravid Plotnik. Hanan Ben Ari will perform on August 20, and the band Ethnix will take the stage at Manhattan Park on August 26. Alongside these, the city offers movie screenings, youth events, museum exhibitions, and sports activities. The summer season concludes on August 30 with a special event for families with children with special needs at the Bat Yam Country Club.
A summer of community and leisure at the Azor Fortress
Those who love open-air performances will find plenty of reasons to visit the Azor Fortress this August. On August 27, the summer season concludes with a concert by the band Hatikva 6. The event will feature the "Beer Tomer" stand, a community initiative in memory of Sergeant Tomer Nagar (may his memory be a blessing). Visitors can also enjoy the "Frenchie" food truck, poetry evenings, and a relaxed summer atmosphere. Throughout the month, the town hosts story hours, workshops, community camping, and family events at Begin Park.
Children's film festival
For the fourth consecutive year, the Histadrut's FRIENDS cultural clubs are offering children's film screenings for just 10 shekels. From August 23–27 in Bat Yam and Rishon LeZion, two films dubbed into Hebrew will be screened daily, including pre-premieres like "The Battle for the House," "Wish Collector," and "Finick 2: Saving the Monsters." The venues will also feature photo booths and treats.
Cultural highlights in Rishon LeZion
Rock and roll fans are invited to the "Elvis Returns" tribute show on August 15 at the Meir Nitzan Cultural Hall, featuring live performances of Elvis Presley's greatest hits. Additionally, the 13th "Big Vacation" Theater Festival will take place from August 23–26 at the same venue. The festival offers plays for children aged 3 and up, such as "Grandpa's Stars" and "Restaurant at the Edge of the Pole." Tickets include access to a large, air-conditioned interactive complex filled with creative workshops, floor games, and wooden puzzles.
