Teenager arrived at concentration camp wearing a shirt of a terrorist: "Desecration of Holocaust memory"

A confrontation developed on Friday at the Mauthausen concentration camp memorial site in Austria, after a teenager who arrived as part of a school visit wore a shirt expressing support for terrorism. The shirt featured the inscription "Free Palestine," and on its back was a "Palestine" flag alongside an illustration of Dalal Mughrabi, a terrorist from the Fatah organization who led the murderous Coastal Road massacre in 1978, in which 38 Israelis were murdered, including 13 children.

The incident led to a confrontation between the teenager and the teachers accompanying the group and a young Jewish woman named Jordana, who documented what was happening and published it on social media. Jordana strongly protested against bringing messages of support for terrorism into a Holocaust memorial site, and argued that comparing the war in the Gaza Strip to the Holocaust desecrates the memory of the victims. Conversely, some of the students and teachers in the group claimed that in their opinion, Israel is committing "genocide" in the Gaza Strip.

According to Jordana, following the group's provocative conduct, the memorial site staff were forced to call the local police to the scene. After the incident, she clarified that desecrating the memory of Holocaust victims through distorted comparisons is unacceptable, and called for showing the proper respect in these places. The Mauthausen camp is considered one of the deadliest concentration camps of Nazi Germany, where about 119,000 people were massacred, including tens of thousands of Jews.
