The Meteorological Service reported on Friday that the probability of rain is increasing for next Tuesday, which is Kneset election day. According to the forecast, rains are expected in the Negev, the Arava, and the Dead Sea area starting from the afternoon, with a risk of flash floods in the southern streams. Rains are also expected in other areas of the center and the north of the country, though no flooding is currently anticipated in those regions.

Heatwave and Extreme Fire Danger

Meanwhile, the autumn heatwave continues today with a further rise in temperatures and heavy heat loads. The weather will mostly be clear and warmer than usual to heatwave conditions across most parts of the country. Temperatures will reach 37 degrees Celsius in Beit She'an, 36 in Afula, 35 in Tiberias and Ein Gedi, and 34 in Nazareth and Eilat. Strong easterly winds will blow in the northern and central mountains in the morning hours, while brisk northern winds are expected along the coastal plain in the afternoon.

Following the weather conditions, the Nature and Parks Authority issued a warning regarding heat loads and extreme fire danger across the country, with an emphasis on the Carmel and Jerusalem mountains. The authority also warned against dehydration, heat strokes, and strong wind gusts. According to firefighting guidelines, lighting fires in the Carmel area is prohibited today between 09:00 and 15:00. Hiking in wadis and trails in the Carmel that lack an escape route is also banned.

Forecast for the Upcoming Week

Tomorrow, Saturday, will be partly cloudy with a drop in temperatures, mainly along the coastal plain, the Shephelah, and the northern Negev, though it will remain warmer than usual. On Sunday, the cooling trend will continue with temperatures returning to seasonal norms and relief from the heat loads. Monday will see a slight rise in temperatures, while Tuesday will bring the anticipated weather change with rain and flood risks in the south.
