An ultra-Orthodox yeshiva student from the Hebron Yeshiva was arrested in Eilat as a military deserter, sparking threats of protests from radical factions.

An ultra-Orthodox yeshiva student and military deserter from the Hebron Yeshiva was arrested in Eilat on Tuesday. Police discovered the suspect during a routine inspection at an apartment belonging to a known local drug offender.

During the search, officers verified the identities of all occupants and identified one as an IDF deserter from the ultra-Orthodox sector. Military police were summoned to the scene, and the Military Police Criminal Investigation Division took him into custody for questioning.

The suspect belongs to a prominent and well-regarded family within the ultra-Orthodox community, drawing significant public attention. Radical factions within the sector have threatened to launch street protests if he is not released immediately.
