Ukrainian Forces Advance on Eastern Front as Russia Faces Severe Troop Shortages
Ukrainian forces liberated territories in the eastern front during Operation Vivaldi, capturing hundreds of Russian troops as Moscow faces severe personnel shortages.
Ukrainian forces have registered significant gains on the eastern front under the counteroffensive dubbed Operation Vivaldi, while the depleted Russian army resorts to desperate global recruitment measures. According to an extensive report by the New York Post, Ukrainian troops liberated three villages and restored full control over two others. The decisive maneuver led to the capture of approximately 250 Russian soldiers and fatal casualties among 2,000 others.
Tactical Deception and VBIEDs
Commander of the 3rd Assault Brigade, Brig. Gen. Andriy Biletsky, noted that his troops successfully recaptured the villages of Ridkodub, Nova, and Katerynivka in the Donetsk region, alongside securing full control over Karpivka and Novomykhailivka. Ukrainian forces executed a brilliant tactical deception, compelling Russian forces to fiercely defend positions south of the actual target near Zelena Dolyna.
Consequently, Ukrainian soldiers recaptured an area of approximately 52 square kilometers. Biletsky boasted that the enemy burned its reserves in futile counterattacks, effectively sleeping through the main blow directed at capturing the village of Nova. The operation featured innovative use of old Soviet BTR-60 armored personnel carriers converted by Ukraine into unmanned vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices to breach Russian defense lines.
"Operation Vivaldi alone has liberated about 176 square kilometers from Russian forces," military officials stated.
American Mercenaries in Russian Service
While Ukraine records impressive progress, Russia confronts an unprecedented personnel crisis. Data published by the New York Post indicates Moscow has suffered approximately 1.5 million casualties, including half a million dead. In a desperate bid to fill ranks, Kremlin recruitment agents deploy targeted ads on Facebook, TikTok, and Telegram to prey on vulnerable populations, pocketing a hefty $24,000 commission per recruit.
The Russian campaign successfully lured at least 18 American citizens into the bloody conflict, enticed by a $26,000 signing bonus and a steady $2,000 monthly salary. Recruits include Seth William Baker, a 23-year-old former U.S. Marine who refused COVID-19 vaccination and was killed at the front, and Wilmer Puello-Mota, a former U.S. Air Force officer who fled the United States prior to trial on child exploitation charges.
