Trump Peace Council Appoints Shelley Greenspan to Lead Gaza Plan Outreach
US President Donald Trump's Peace Council appointed former White House official Shelley Greenspan to lead congressional outreach and bipartisan advocacy for its Gaza peace initiative.

US President Donald Trump's Peace Council has appointed Shelley Greenspan, a former White House liaison to the Jewish community under the Biden administration, to lead advocacy and relations with Congress and Washington think tanks. According to a report by Axios, this appointment is part of a broader effort by the Peace Council to secure bipartisan support for Trump's peace plan for Gaza.
Implementation of the initiative is expected to receive renewed momentum following the upcoming US midterm elections and the formation of a new government in Israel. With the possibility of Democratic control in the House or Senate, building cross-party consensus on the Gaza plan has become critical.
Until now, the US initiative had stalled largely due to the refusal of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to take any steps in Gaza prior to the elections scheduled for October 27. However, in recent months, several prominent Democrats have expressed support for Trump's initiative, including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who backed the plan in June and called it the most practical and viable proposal.
Greenspan, a veteran State Department official who served on the White House National Security Council under the Biden administration as both Jewish community liaison and director of partnerships and global engagement, will now head foreign affairs for the Peace Council, overseeing outreach to lawmakers and Middle East experts.
In a statement to Axios, the Peace Council noted that Greenspan brings deep bipartisan experience, having earned the trust of both Democrats and Republicans through her service in the White House, the National Security Council, and the State Department. The council emphasized that sustained bipartisan congressional support is essential for the work ahead.
Greenspan stated in response that in her previous State Department role, she worked to advance Trump's vision for peace and prosperity in the Middle East. She noted that the president's 20-point plan can deliver tangible results for the residents of Gaza and Israel, and expressed eagerness to continue this work with the council.
