toMix Theater Unveils 2026-2027 Season with Major Musical Premieres
The toMix Theater unveiled its 2026-2027 season, featuring the Israeli premiere of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Billy Schwartz, and Eshkol Nevo's Wish You Were Here.
A year after its launch, the toMix Theater unveiled its 2026–2027 season repertoire on Wednesday morning, featuring a series of new productions alongside hit shows from the previous season. Notable highlights include the musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, making its Israeli stage premiere, the return of Billy Schwartz, and Wish You Were Here, based on the bestselling novel by Eshkol Nevo.
Major Productions and Israeli Premieres
One of the theater's blockbuster productions this year is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, based on the classic book by Roald Dahl. The beloved story previously inspired two famous cinematic adaptations: the 2005 film starring Johnny Depp and the 2023 prequel Wonka starring Timothée Chalamet. The musical has previously run on Broadway and in London's West End, and casting for the Israeli production is currently underway.
The new production of Billy Schwartz will be staged in a collaboration between the toMix Theater and the Haifa Theater, directed by Moshe Captan, 11 years after its original run. The musical was written and composed by Ohad Hitman and Shirley Deshe. Eliana Tidhar will star in the title role of Billy, alongside Rona-Lee Shimon or Mei Finegold, and Tali Oren—who starred in the original production and will now return to play Billy's mother.
Another intriguing adaptation coming to the stage is Wish You Were Here, based on Eshkol Nevo’s novel about four friends who grapple over the years with the gap between the lives they imagined and the reality they actually lived. The stage adaptation of Nevo's book was written by Dafna Engel-Mahariz and directed by Ido Rosenberg, featuring Eyal Bukovza, Yafit Asulin, Uri Gottlieb, Adva Edni, and Miri Zehavi.
Diverse Drama and Comedy Lineup
The repertoire also features Slopes, written by Amnon Levy and directed by Yehezkel Lazarov, which centers on a group of ultra-Orthodox women in Mea Shearim who launch a campaign to help one of their friends. The cast includes Shlomo Bar-Aba, Rona-Lee Shimon, Henry David, Tali Sharon, and Nati Kluger.
Another new work is Waking Dafi, written by Gil Ari Cohen and starring Tali Oren and Ilan Rosenfeld, telling the story of a woman who wakes up from a five-year coma only to discover that her husband has decided to move on with his life. Meanwhile, Chana Laslau will headline the comedy What Do We Do with Jenny?, directed by Udi Gottschalk, alongside Meli Levi, Yael Amit, and Meital Notik.
Rounding out the rich season are This Too Shall Pass the Rabbinate, an entertainment show by Avi Belkin and Ran Dabrat, directed by Moshe Naor and starring Mia Dagan, Uri Gottlieb, and Rafael Abbas; Lend Me a Tenor by Ken Ludwig, starring Nicki Goldstein, Idan Alterman, Gilat Ankori, and Rafael Abbas; Run for Your Wife by Ray Cooney, starring Dov Navon; alongside returning favorites The Nudnik, Toc Toc, Match Made in Heaven, and The Producers.
