Tel Aviv Restaurant Closed for 30 Days Over Undocumented Worker
Israel Police shut down a Tel Aviv shawarma restaurant for 30 days after discovering an undocumented worker employed there, marking the second such violation at the venue within months.
During a targeted operation by the Israel Police, an undocumented worker without valid residency permits was located and arrested at the "Shawarma Shabu" restaurant on HaYarkon Street in Tel Aviv. According to the police investigation, the suspect had been allegedly employed at the establishment for more than two days.
Following the findings and as part of an administrative procedure, a 30-day closure order was signed for the business, effective until November 18, 2026. Police reported that parallel to the licensing enforcement by the Yarkon District, a criminal investigation is underway against the employer for suspected illegal employment.
According to the police, this is the second time within approximately seven and a half months that undocumented workers have been found employed at the premises, despite a previous closure order having been issued against the business.
