13-Year-Old Boy Killed by Car Near Haifa While Fleeing From Pursuer
Thirteen-year-old Ariel Sofar Marhraz was killed after being struck by a car near Haifa while fleeing another youth. Police are investigating the fatal incident.
Ariel Sofar Marhraz, a 13-year-old resident of Kiryat Ata, was the teenager killed after being struck by a vehicle at the Tzabar Junction in the Krayot area along the Acre-Haifa highway.
Tragic Incident Details
According to the details, Ariel was an eighth-grade student at the Rogozin A school in Kiryat Ata. His mother, Chofit, shared the harrowing circumstances of the tragedy with ynet, explaining that her son was out with friends at the Krayon Mall in Kiryat Bialik.
"Friends report that there was a conversation with some friends, and then a teenager tried to chase him. Ariel tried to escape from him, ran into the road because he was afraid of him, and was then fatally struck by a car on the road," the mother recounted.
She added that the family is struggling to comprehend the sudden loss, especially coming just months after he celebrated his bar mitzvah in March. Ariel leaves behind an older brother, Eyal, 16.
Medical Response and Investigation
The report of the accident reached the Magen David Adom (MDA) Carmel region dispatch center at 23:10. MDA paramedics and EMTs performed CPR on the teenager, who suffered multi-system trauma, before evacuating him to Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa, where medical teams pronounced him dead.
"The teenager was lying on the road after being hit by a vehicle, unconscious, without a pulse or breathing," MDA paramedic Gili Baraliya and senior EMT Elchanan Biner reported. Police are currently investigating the precise circumstances surrounding the chase and the collision.
