Muhammad Yassin, a man in his 20s from Tamra, was killed last week by gunfire directed at a car he was riding in on his way to a wedding. His family is still struggling to process the tragedy, a year and a half after Muhammad's 17-year-old cousin, Jawad, was also murdered.

"I do not think my son was the target of the murder," said his father, Samer. "But murder is murder, whatever the circumstances." Samer recounted that his wife had dropped their son off with friends to travel to Kabul for a wedding. Sitting in the back seat, Muhammad was struck by a bullet in his upper body when unknown assailants suddenly opened fire on the vehicle. Another car was also hit during the incident, leading the family to believe the shooting was indiscriminate.

Samer expressed deep concern over the lack of deterrence and law enforcement in Arab communities, fearing his son's case will remain unsolved. According to police, the background of the incident is criminal and the circumstances are under investigation.

Since the beginning of the year, 176 people have been murdered in Arab society, compared to 193 victims by October 1 of last year. While this marks a slight decrease, the ongoing violence continues to claim a life roughly every day and a half.
