Five Eilat Police Officers Arrested Over Alleged Brutal Assault
Five Eilat police officers were arrested on suspicion of brutally beating a man accused of harassment and abandoning him injured on a beach.
Five police officers from the Eilat Yasam tactical unit have been arrested and interrogated on suspicion of severely beating a 38-year-old man from the African Hebrew Israelite community and abandoning him injured on a beach.
The incident began two months ago when women complained that the man was harassing them on the Eilat promenade. A video published on social media showed the handcuffed man being led away by officers. According to the victim, instead of being taken to a police station, he was driven to an isolated area where he was brutally beaten, losing his front teeth and sustaining injuries across his body before being left alone.
Following an initial inquiry where police previously denied violent conduct, investigators have now arrested the officers, some of whom served as combat soldiers during the October 7 events. Paramedics eventually located the victim using his phone after he was abandoned.
