The beloved Israeli comedian, actor, and creator Tal Friedman is mourning the loss of his mother, Prof. Michal (Regine) Friedman, who passed away. According to the family's announcement, her funeral will take place on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Sde Yehoshua Cemetery in Haifa.
Tal Friedman has been a cornerstone of Israeli culture, entertainment, and television for the past four decades. From his early days in legendary stand-up shows and cult television programs to over a decade as a central star of Eretz Nehederet, Friedman has carved out a unique place in the Israeli hall of fame.
Born and raised in Haifa to an academic family, Friedman grew up with his father, Ze'ev, and his late mother, a respected film and art researcher at Tel Aviv University. Alongside his professional success, Friedman is deeply involved in social advocacy, notably speaking openly about raising his daughter Tamar, who is on the autism spectrum.
Just last month, Friedman shared rare personal and family details on his podcast with screenwriter Matan Halik, revealing intimate struggles from his early career when he experienced homelessness and slept in an office. Today, colleagues, friends, and fans from across the entertainment industry are sending their condolences and supporting Friedman and his family during this difficult time.
