Breathtaking Sunset Paints Israeli Skies in Brilliant Reds and Oranges
A stunning sunset painted Israeli skies in brilliant shades of red and orange on Monday evening, as viral WhatsApp messages urged residents to capture the rare cirrus cloud display.
A viral message circulated across WhatsApp groups on Monday evening, urging people across the country to look west and reach for their cameras to capture a uniquely stunning sunset. Netizens quickly flooded social media with breathtaking photos showing skies painted in vibrant shades of red, orange, and pink over beaches, city streets, and neighborhood windows.
The widely shared message also offered a brief meteorological explanation for the vivid phenomenon: high-altitude ice clouds known as cirrus clouds catch the fading light, scattering it in a way that makes the sky appear as if it is literally on fire. The stunning visual display served as a welcome moment of collective wonder and natural beauty for residents peering out toward the Mediterranean.
