Shlomo Artzi with a touching message: after years of partnership
Two giants of Israeli music who shook Caesarea in their historic joint show reunite for a very personal moment, following the moving milestone of one of them.
The 80th birthday of Shalom Hanoch, one of the leading creators and rockers in Israeli music, has brought a warm wave of well-wishes and marks a significant milestone in Israeli culture. Among those offering congratulations was his close friend and stage partner, Shlomo Artzi:
"The 80th birthday of Shalom Hanoch. A birthday is an opportunity to bless you with all my heart, Shalom. You are first and foremost a beloved person, a friend, and a partner for the 'Hit-habrut' ('Connection') show we did in 2005–2006. Happy birthday, dear Shalom, may you have much more creativity and good health, I love you."
Shlomo Artzi himself is considered one of the most successful and influential artists in the country's history. He began his path at the age of 16 and later served as a soloist in the Navy Band. His major breakthrough came in 1970 when the song "Pit'om Achshav, Pit'om Ha-yom" ("Ahavtiha") won first place at the Song and Chorus Festival. After more complex years in the 70s, his artistic turning point occurred in 1979 with the release of the album "Drakhim" ("Roads"). Since then, albums such as "Hatzot" ("Midnight"), "Hom Yuli-August" ("July-August Heat"), "Yareach" ("Moon"), and "Shnaim" ("Two") have sold hundreds of thousands of copies, and his performances at the Caesarea Amphitheater have become one of the central cultural symbols in Israel. Over the years, he has won the ACUM prize, the AMI lifetime achievement award, and even lit a torch on the 70th Independence Day of the state.
The special connection between the two reached its peak in the summer of 2005, when they joined forces for the joint show "Hit-habrut". The project, under the artistic direction of Louis Lahav, connected the different audiences of the two rock giants and became a huge success in Caesarea, with the two providing new, joint performances of the best classics from both their childhoods and adulthoods. Following the success of the show, the double live album "Shlomo Artzi and Shalom Hanoch in Caesarea" was released in September 2005, achieving great commercial success. In 2006, a DVD was also released, documenting this unique stage encounter and serving as a record that continues to accompany the partnership and close friendship maintained between the two over the years.
