Shin Bet Files Censorship Complaint Against Channel 12 Over UAE Visit Leak
The Shin Bet filed a complaint against Channel 12 for prematurely reporting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to the UAE while his flight was still airborne.
The Shin Bet filed an official complaint with the Chief Military Censor on Monday evening against Channel 12, alleging a severe censorship violation regarding the publication of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to the United Arab Emirates.
The core of the complaint focuses on the timing of the broadcast at 21:38. According to the Shin Bet, the prime ministerial aircraft was still far outside Israeli airspace at that moment, and it only landed at 22:27, nearly 50 minutes later.
"Publishing the visit at the stage it was broadcast endangered the security of the prime minister, the operation, and the forces in the field," the Shin Bet stated. The agency added that the leak exposed operational methods, placing future missions at high risk.
The complaint emphasized that the danger extended beyond the prime minister to his wife and delegation members, including the director of the Mossad, the head of the National Security Council, military secretary Maj. Gen. Guy Markizano, the head of the Shin Bet security division, the air crew, and security personnel.
