Serbia and Israel Launch Joint Advanced Drone Assembly Plant in Belgrade

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić inaugurated a joint drone assembly plant with Israeli defense technology on Thursday. Vučić expressed immense pride, stating that the facility will manufacture advanced Israeli-designed drones for the Serbian military and international clients. The project marks a major milestone in bilateral defense cooperation, with plans to open at least three additional plants across Serbia.
Speaking to Informer TV, Vučić emphasized that the primary advantage is securing a critical transfer of technology and expertise, enabling domestic production to ensure supply chain independence. He highlighted the strategic importance of collaborating with Israeli partners to build a modern digital army.
Vučić initially announced the initiative in March, while the involvement of Israeli defense contractor Elbit Systems was confirmed in June. According to local media reports, the joint venture is majority-owned by Elbit with a 51% stake, alongside Serbia's state-owned import-export agency.
The plant's opening comes just ten days before Vučić concludes his presidential term, as he prepares to lead his party in the upcoming October 25 elections as a candidate for Prime Minister.
