New Neighborhood Inscribed in Memory of Fallen Soldier Inaugurated in Samaria
A new neighborhood named Kerem Hillel was inaugurated in the Samaria settlement of Migdalim, honoring fallen IDF soldier Hillel Diner, alongside regional expansion plans.
New Neighborhood Inscribed in Memory of Fallen IDF Soldier in Samaria
A new residential neighborhood comprising 15 families was inaugurated during the intermediate days of Sukkot in the mixed communal settlement of Migdalim, located in the eastern part of Samaria. Named "Kerem Hillel," the neighborhood was established adjacent to the Nof Avi farm and honors the memory of Hillel Diner, a Kfir Brigade soldier who was killed in December 2024 during combat in Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the 15 families settling in the area, members of the Diner family, Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan, Migdalim secretariat chairman Yaakov Peretz, and other local residents.
During the event, Dagan cut the ribbon and recited the traditional blessing "Matziv Gvul Almanah" (He who sets the borders of a widow) alongside the residents.
"The Land of Israel without the People of Israel is like a broken family, like a widow," Dagan stated. "When the People of Israel return to the Land of Israel and establish new settlements, the family is reunited, and therefore there is a special blessing."-
Strategic Expansion and Upcoming Events
The expansion of Migdalim takes place in the eastern region of Samaria, along the corridor connecting the mountain ridge to the Jordan Valley. Dagan presented the initiative as part of a broader plan to strengthen settlement in the area, aiming for one million Jewish residents in Samaria.
"This area, connecting Samaria to the Jordan Valley, is becoming a significant and central part of the State of Israel," Dagan said. "Migdalim is going to become a regional council, and we will reach, with God's help, one million Jews in Samaria."
Elishiv Diner, Hillel's brother, also participated in the event. He noted that the family finds comfort in having his brother's memory tied to building the land. "We are happy to be the Ushpizin [guests] and to continue his path in building the country," he said.
The neighborhood's inauguration precedes another major event promoted by the Samaria Council: the annual Samaria March, scheduled to pass through the area of the former settlements of Ganim and Kadim, which were evacuated during the 2005 disengagement plan.
