Mother of Fallen Soldier Ron Sherman Publishes Son's Final Birthday Message
Dr. Maayan Sherman, mother of fallen soldier Ron Sherman, published the final birthday message sent by her son one month before he was abducted by Hamas on October 7.
Dr. Maayan Sherman, the mother of Sergeant Ron Sherman—who was abducted by Hamas on October 7, 2023, and later killed in an IDF airstrike—published a screenshot of the last WhatsApp birthday greeting she received from her son, exactly one month before the disaster.
Dr. Sherman shared the message on her Facebook account, writing that it was sent one month before what she termed the "Netanyahu massacre." In the message, Ron thanked his mother for her support during a complex year in the military, noting the difficulties he faced and wishing her happiness and self-care.
"From the sudden asthma attack that took away my opportunity to serve in combat, to arriving at the base I least wanted to be at," Ron wrote in words that now carry a chilling resonance.
Sergeant Ron Sherman was abducted alive by Hamas terrorists on October 7 from the Coordination and Liaison Administration (CLA) base. He was killed in captivity alongside Nick Beizer and Elia Toledano as a "byproduct" of an IDF airstrike targeting northern Hamas brigade commander Ahmed Ghandour, as the military previously stated.
