British Rock Legend Rod Stewart Announces Final Tour and Retirement
British rock legend Rod Stewart has announced his retirement from touring after a 60-year career, citing recent health challenges including a heart procedure.
After more than 60 years in the spotlight, selling over 250 million records and earning two inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, British rock legend Rod Stewart has announced his retirement. Stewart will conclude his monumental career with a final global tour kicking off in Dublin next year.
A Farewell to the Road
In a heartfelt message to his devoted fans, Stewart shared his reflections on decades of touring. "My dear friends, it is time to say goodbye to life on the road. After more than six decades, this truly will be my very last tour," he wrote. He expressed profound gratitude, noting that music gave him a life beyond imagination.
"I have been singing the music I love since I was 19, and I feel privileged to have brought it to all of you around the world," Stewart stated.
Health Challenges and Tour Cancellations
The decision to step away from touring follows a series of recent health hurdles. Last month, Stewart was forced to cancel the final 11 shows of his US tour, including a residency in Las Vegas, after undergoing a heart procedure to insert a coronary stent. Furthermore, back in June, the 81-year-old singer had a close scare in Utah, nearly fainting on stage and requiring medical oxygen.
Although he faced some public criticism for prioritizing personal appearances over specific concert dates during his recovery, Stewart remains focused on delivering an unforgettable final series of shows to properly bid farewell to his global audience.
