Revolut Renames Local Subsidiary to Revolut Bank Israel Amid Licensing Push
British fintech giant Revolut has renamed its Israeli subsidiary to Revolut Bank Israel as it advances efforts to secure a banking license and compete locally.

British fintech giant Revolut has taken another significant step toward establishing a banking presence in Israel, officially changing its local subsidiary's name to Revolut Bank Israel (In Establishment) Ltd.
According to an announcement released by MASB (Banking Clearing Center), the Registrar of Companies approved the name change from Revolut Payments Israel Ltd on November 1. This adjustment follows a series of strategic moves by the company in recent months to prepare for its entry into the Israeli banking sector.
Despite the corporate renaming, Revolut has not yet secured a formal banking license from the Bank of Israel, and the regulatory licensing process remains ongoing. In June 2025, reports revealed that Revolut was negotiating with the central bank for a lean banking license format, which would enable the firm to offer customer deposits and directly compete with local commercial banks.
The Bank of Israel officially confirmed in May that Governor Amir Yaron authorized the fintech to proceed with the necessary stages for obtaining a banking license. Revolut currently holds a payment services license from the Israel Securities Authority, though it has not yet launched public operations in the country.
As part of its expansion efforts, the company has ramped up local recruitment for specialized roles in credit, risk management, compliance, collections, and banking operations. The Israeli division is led by Ori Natan, the former CEO of Pepper, Bank Leumi's digital banking arm.
Serving over 80 million customers worldwide, Revolut aims to challenge traditional domestic lenders upon completing regulatory approvals, though no official launch date has been announced yet.
