Rak BeYisrael Returns for Cancer Charity Special Raising 4.6 Million Shekels
Cult show Rak BeYisrael returned for a special fundraising broadcast supporting cancer patients, raising over 4.6 million shekels. Erez Tal and Orna Banai reunited as Shimon and Limor.
The cult TV show "Rak BeYisrael" returned to screens with a special fundraising broadcast for the "Halasartan" association, which supports young adults battling cancer. During the show, viewers opened their hearts and wallets, helping to raise an impressive sum of 4,650,304 shekels.
Erez Tal and Orna Banai reprised their beloved characters Shimon and Limor alongside a lineup of special guests. One of the most tumultuous moments occurred when Limor stepped into the shoes of Ofira Asayag in a sketch and sat down for an interview with Amir Banai. The interview quickly degraded and ended with the "Dancing with the Stars" winner walking off the studio set, protesting the personal jabs made by Limor regarding his family and mother.
Dedicated to the frantic preparations for elections and Limor's run for the Knesset leading the "Division Party", the special featured hilarious sketches. Viewers were introduced to skeletons in the closet, including Magi Azarzer playing the lost daughter, and Yael Shelbia arriving for an interview auditioning to be the Prime Minister's wife. Children's star Mayiki the Bespectacled performed the hit song "Squishy Party", which was declared the party's official anthem.
In addition, the results of a competition held on mako to select the show's next dog were announced: site users voted for "Botan" to be the successor of the legendary dog Shuki, who was an inseparable part of the original show and passed away about nine years ago.
Actor Tsahi Halevi also took part in the broadcast, playing Limor's bodyguard. In an interview with mako, Halevi described the role as one of the most challenging missions of his life—even tougher than combat military service—and joked that the real threat to Limor is her longtime partner: "Shimon is an enemy within; he looks nice, but he is the most dangerous one."
Alongside the humor, Halevi emphasized the profound value of his participation and noted that he did not hesitate to join the effort: "Supporting young people battling cancer is tremendously important, and I hope this broadcast opens the public's heart."
