Ten suspects were arrested this morning (Monday) in Rahat after being filmed driving recklessly on a local road and firing shots into the air. Footage circulated on social media shows the suspects driving dangerously, with some leaning out of vehicle windows to fire weapons.
Earlier in the day, another alarming video emerged from the city, capturing the sound of continuous gunfire as children made their way to educational institutions. Rahat residents reported that the shooting echoed across the town for hours.
According to the Israel Police, officers from the Rahat station, alongside SAHAR unit fighters and the southern Border Police, launched simultaneous raids across multiple locations. They carried out a series of searches and arrests targeting two rival families involved in a violent ongoing dispute.
Over the weekend, residents of the northern Negev reported heavy gunfire originating from Rahat that lasted for hours. Locals from the nearby Jewish community of Giv'ot Bar stated that the shooting began early in the morning, creating an atmosphere that many compared to the events of October 7.
