Rabid Puppy Found Near Naveh Tzuf: Ministry Urges Immediate Check
The Ministry of Health reported a rabid puppy found near Naveh Tzuf and Nehaliel. Anyone exposed between September 9 and 23 is urged to seek urgent medical evaluation for rabies treatment.
The Ministry of Health reported that a rabid puppy, white with brown spots, was found on Route 450 near the community of Naveh Tzuf (Halamish). The puppy came from the direction of Nehaliel. So far, one person is known to have been in contact with the dog, and the epidemiological investigation is ongoing.
Anyone who came into contact with the infected puppy or with a stray animal near Route 450 and Naveh Tzuf between September 9, 2026, and September 23, 2026, is urged to urgently contact the Ramla Health Bureau or the nearest health bureau for preventive rabies treatment evaluation, without an appointment. After working hours and on weekends, individuals should visit a hospital emergency room.
The Ministry of Health urges parents to check if their children touched the puppy or stray animals, advises pet owners whose animals may have been exposed to contact a municipal veterinarian, and asks the public to share this information. In case of an animal bite or scratch, the wound must be washed immediately with running water and soap for about 10 minutes, disinfected, and evaluated at a health bureau.
