"Persecution": Indictment filed against Tal Dardik hours after his arrest

The legal drama surrounding Tal Inon Dardik, a farmer and father of four from Samaria, continues. This Friday morning, shortly after his arrest in the north of the country, the prosecution unit of the Judea and Samaria District Police filed an indictment and a request for detention until the end of proceedings at the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court.

According to the indictment, Dardik committed the offense of violating a legal order by failing to report to the police station in Modi'in Illit, as required by the administrative order issued by the GOC Central Command, Avi Bluth. It should be noted that the prosecution does not attribute to him a violation of the prohibition on staying in the territories of Judea and Samaria, but focuses solely on the failure to report to the station.

Dardik's current arrest comes just a few weeks after he ended a 38-day hunger strike within prison walls. That struggle ended with his release without restrictive conditions, after the court accepted the argument that the previous administrative order—which required him to stay at his deaf mother-in-law's house—was clearly inapplicable.

In that same decision, criticism was also leveled at the police's conduct. However, the legal victory was short-lived, as immediately upon his release, a new administrative order was issued, distancing him from his home and the farm that constitutes his livelihood, and requiring him to report twice a day to a police station in a city where he has no connection.

Dardik's defense attorney, Nati Rom from the "Honenu" organization, sharply attacked the speed with which the indictment was filed, claiming it is a continuation of harassment. According to him, the GOC Central Command is dragging Dardik into another predatory saga through a draconian order issued without evidence and without trial.

"The system requires me to implement instructions that do not allow me to maintain a minimal lifestyle, and the obligation to report in a city I have never visited is tantamount to persecution," Dardik stated.
