A routine traffic police stop in Lahore, northeastern Pakistan, has uncovered a massive vehicle registration scam after officers discovered that a single local resident officially owned 2,354 vehicles.

The incident began when traffic police flagged down a motorcycle with a tampered license plate. Upon entering the registration details into the database, officers were stunned to find that Muhammad Usman was officially registered as the owner of 2,354 different vehicles, including motorcycles, rickshaws, and cars.

Mounting Fines and Investigation

Further investigation revealed that 2,813 digital traffic fines had been issued against these vehicles, accumulating a staggering total of 2.8669 million Pakistani rupees, equivalent to roughly 38,000 Israeli shekels.

The seized motorcycle was impounded, and law enforcement enlisted the help of the Safe City surveillance agency to track down the true owner behind the fraudulent registrations and identity theft.

Authorities noted that a nearly identical scam occurred in Lahore in June 2026, when 1,743 vehicles were registered under a single citizen's name with unpaid fines totaling 2.825 million rupees. Police suspect the phenomenon is linked to installment-based vehicle sales or widespread identity fraud.
