Ethiopian PM Sends Cabinet Ministers for Military Training Amid Eritrea Tensions
Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has sent cabinet ministers and senior officials for military training amid escalating tensions and fears of war with Eritrea in the Tigray region.

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed announced that he has sent his cabinet ministers and top government officials for military training amid escalating security tensions and the threat of war with neighboring Eritrea in the Tigray region.
In a statement posted on X, Ahmed emphasized that effective governance requires both material and spiritual success, grounded in tradition and moral values. He noted that the national leadership must be physically robust, morally steadfast, knowledgeable, and disciplined, citing the ongoing military training at a training center.
Photographs published on social media showed the prime minister participating in military exercises alongside ministers, deputy ministers, and institutional heads, including senior parliament members as well as the ministers of finance and health.
Tensions between Ethiopia and Eritrea have reached a critical point following Addis Ababa's recent accusations that Asmara launched a full-scale invasion into the northern Tigray region. While Eritrea has denied the allegations and appealed to the UN Security Council, both nations have severed diplomatic ties amid decades of hostility.
