From Developer to Tech Influencer: Ofir Lazarov's Digital Journey
Ofir Lazarov, a 29-year-old software developer from Tel Aviv, left her programming career to become a full-time tech influencer, helping companies with employer branding.

The intersection of the influencer industry and the high-tech sector has always been fascinating. While they often seem worlds apart, with firmly entrenched stereotypes for both tech professionals and digital creators, one 29-year-old from Tel Aviv successfully managed to bridge both domains for quite some time. Ofir Lazarov worked as a software developer while simultaneously publishing social media videos about restaurants and the culture of the local tech scene. When her view counts began to skyrocket, she made a bold decision that raised more than a few eyebrows among her peers: leaving programming entirely to become a full-time tech influencer.
"I studied computer science at Reichman University and worked as a developer for several years at cyber companies, including Check Point. I knew I wanted to enter the high-tech world, and that was my ticket in. I didn't serve in Unit 8200," Lazarov shares. During her studies, she was always occupied with entrepreneurial ventures, founding the food-tech club on campus because she wanted to build something from scratch. Combining her technical background with her passion for food led her to discover this unique niche.
Finding Her Unique Angle in Tel Aviv
Starting out before the massive AI boom, Lazarov enjoyed her time as a developer. Simultaneously, she began posting content from restaurants simply because she was constantly dining out and fielding recommendations from friends. As her account grew, she realized she needed a distinct voice in a city saturated with food bloggers. Visiting friends at tech giants like Google and Meta, she started filming office perks and cafeterias. Her first video from Google performed decently, but a subsequent video from Meta went viral, surpassing half a million views.
Everyone wants to see what happens inside high-tech companies. People know about the lavish perks and always want a behind-the-scenes look. I realized I had a unique advantage because I could provide an authentic inside perspective.
Transitioning to Employer Branding
What began as casual visits to friends quickly evolved into professional collaborations. Lazarov began reaching out to companies via LinkedIn, and soon enough, corporations started approaching her directly. Because she speaks the language, understands the products, and relates to developers, companies trusted her. This credibility allowed her to make the leap out of traditional development and into social media full-time.
Today, she collaborates with prominent high-tech firms such as Cyera, AppCharge, and ScaleOps, focusing on employer branding—helping companies showcase their workplace culture to attract top talent. Even in a market facing economic shifts and layoffs, competition for skilled professionals remains fierce, making authentic storytelling a vital asset for modern enterprises.
