Nvidia Expands European Footprint with Major Investments and German AI Pact
Nvidia expands its presence in Europe with massive investments and a partnership with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, aiming to advance industrial AI and secure autonomous agents.

Nvidia is expanding its footprint in Europe through technology investments and government partnerships, culminating in an agreement signed with the German government to advance industrial artificial intelligence. CEO Jensen Huang delivered the keynote address at the GTC conference in Berlin, focusing on local computing infrastructure, AI integration in factories and robots, and the security of autonomous AI agents.
European Investments and Partnerships
Ahead of the conference, Huang visited several European nations. In France, health tech firm Doctolib and robotics company Genesis AI announced investments from Nvidia. In the United Kingdom, Nvidia committed $250 million in computing resources over five years for AI safety research. In Germany, Huang met with Chancellor Friedrich Merz, signing a joint declaration of intent to develop AI models for industry, robotics, and autonomous systems, alongside planned investments in four German firms. Nvidia's total European commitments near $10 billion.
Technological Innovations and Agent Security
At the Berlin conference, Nvidia showcased updates on deploying advanced computing systems and software for managing autonomous agents. Autonomous agents require extensive computing power, as completing a single task involves repeated searches, coding, and model executions. To address security concerns, Nvidia highlighted its Open Agent Safety Platform, which includes OpenShell for enforcing access permissions and Sentry for monitoring anomalies and halting unauthorized actions.
