Meta AI Glasses Launch in Israel
Meta's artificial intelligence glasses, Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta, officially became available for purchase in Israel starting October 20, with a starting price of 1,590 NIS depending on the model. This marks the official entry of AI-powered eyewear into the local market as part of the expanded partnership between EssilorLuxottica and Meta, following millions of units sold globally.
The launched models are the latest versions announced at the Meta Connect conference last month, both equipped with cameras. Audio-only Meta glasses, which lack cameras and were initially released amid privacy concerns, are currently not coming to Israel. The glasses are sold through the Opticana retail chain, while full pricing details are still rolling out.
Features and Technical Specifications
The glasses enable users to listen to music via open-ear technology, translate conversations in real-time, capture photos and videos from the user's perspective, and conduct hands-free interactions. They incorporate voice capabilities and direct access to Meta AI, which officially debuted in Israel last June.
The Ray-Ban Meta collection features the third generation (Gen 3) in Wayfarer, Aviator, and Zena frames, alongside Ray-Ban Meta Optics. The Aviator and Zena frames feature a slimmer design supporting prescription lenses. Battery life reaches up to 9 hours of continuous operation, with a customizable action button for quick AI access.
Oakley Meta Sports Collection
The Oakley Meta lineup includes the HSTN and Vanguard models tailored for athletic use. The HSTN model features a lightweight frame, Prizm lenses, and an 8-hour battery life. The Vanguard model is equipped with a 12MP ultra-wide camera with a 122° field of view, IP67 water and dust resistance, Garmin and Strava integration, and a battery providing up to 9 hours of use, extending to 36 hours with the charging case.
