"We could have been in the news - 60 soldiers killed": Shuttle driver drove recklessly and used his phone

About 60 soldiers who were on their way this morning, Sunday, from Modiin to Ir HaBahadim claim they were involved in a life-threatening ride on a shuttle operated for the IDF. Footage filmed by one of the soldiers during the trip shows the driver holding his mobile phone and texting while driving.

According to the soldiers, this was not a momentary incident. They claim that throughout the ride, the driver frequently used his phone and drove in a manner that caused them significant concern. At various stages, they repeatedly asked him to put the device down, slow down, and focus on the road, yet the driver ignored their requests.

"We were really stressed. We tried to talk to the commanders about the driver, but there was no answer. No one is responsible for this. We could have been in the news, 60 soldiers killed," said one of the soldiers on the bus.

The soldiers further claim that there were no seat belts available for them on the bus and that they felt they had no one to turn to in real time to address the danger.

This was a civilian bus operated as part of an organized IDF transport that departed at 07:30 from Modiin. At this stage, it remains unclear which company operated the bus and who is responsible on behalf of the army for supervising such transport.

A request was sent to the IDF asking how it intends to investigate the incident, prevent the recurrence of such cases, and whether the contract with the operating company will be reviewed following the incident.

The IDF's response was not received by the time of publication.
