Ex-Military Secretary Alleges Prime Minister's Staff Altered Oct. 7 Records
Testimony from former military secretary Avi Gil alleges Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's chief of staff attempted to falsify October 7 call transcripts ahead of a state audit.
Testimony from Avi Gil, former military secretary to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, reveals an alleged attempt by the Prime Minister's chief of staff, Tzachi Braverman, to alter the timestamp of a crucial phone call on the morning of October 7, 2023. According to Gil, a stenographer reported in January 2024 that Braverman pressured her to change the time of a 06:40 conversation to 06:29 using a blue marker, despite digital signatures confirming the later time.
The Comptroller's Inquiry
This revelation aligns chronologically with an investigation launched by State Comptroller Matanyahu Englman into the failures leading up to the October 7 massacre. In late December 2023, the Comptroller's office requested official documentation from the Prime Minister's Office. Shortly after, the attempts to modify the stenographic records took place, raising concerns that the document handling was motivated by the looming state audit rather than an internal review.
"They worked on a narrative to portray Netanyahu as the only one who functioned and to prove there was treason." - Avi Gil
Response from Associates
Associates of Braverman strongly denied the allegations of altering stenographic records, claiming the modification was an innocent correction based on a prior phone call at 06:33. They stated that the change was made in good faith and awaits formal resolution following previous investigations.
