Captain Eliav Chaim Tzeplomus, an officer in the Combat Engineering Corps serving in the 603rd Battalion, was killed during combat operations in southern Lebanon. Shortly before his death, Tzeplomus had planned a romantic surprise for his partner, Inbar, purchasing tickets for a stand-up comedy show by Israeli comedian Guy Hochman.

A Heartbreaking Tribute by Guy Hochman

Hochman, who learned of the tragic story directly from Inbar, shared a moving post on social media that quickly went viral. "My heart is shattered," Hochman wrote. "Captain Eliav Tzeplomus fell this week in Lebanon, and this is what his partner Inbar just sent me. The combat engineer and romantic partner surprised her with tickets to my show. He will never arrive."

Hochman announced that he would reserve a special seat for Tzeplomus at his upcoming weekend performance as a tribute to the fallen hero.

"Eliav's chair will remain saved this Saturday night. We will place flowers and an engineering corps flag on it and stand in his honor. Remember and commemorate. Inbar, the Tzeplomus family, and the 603rd Battalion, we are with you."

Operational Details and Commemoration

Tzeplomus, a 21-year-old officer from Haifa, served in the 603rd Battalion of the 7th Armored Brigade. He was killed during operations in southern Lebanon when a Hummer vehicle overturned in the Litani River region, an incident that also left three other soldiers lightly injured. Following his death, he was posthumously promoted from lieutenant to captain.

Haifa Mayor Yona Yahav expressed deep sorrow over the loss, extending condolences to Eliav's mother, Chali, an employee of the Haifa municipality. "Eliav went out to defend his people and country and will not return," Yahav stated.
