Netanyahu's Son-in-Law Filmed Dancing to Anti-Zionist Haredi Anthem
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's son-in-law Daniel Roth was filmed dancing to an anti-Zionist Haredi song at a wedding, drawing political attention amid intense debates over ultra-Orthodox military conscription.

As the controversial issue of military conscription for ultra-Orthodox Israelis takes center stage in national politics, a recent report from the Haredi press has drawn attention to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's family.
According to the "BeChadrei Haredim" news portal, Daniel Roth, the son-in-law of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and husband of his daughter Noa, was filmed last week dancing to the song "We Do Not Believe in the Rule of the Infidels." The anthem is traditionally associated with anti-Zionist Haredi factions that reject the authority of the Israeli state.
The incident reportedly took place at the wedding of the son of prominent Hasidic figure Rabbi Yudel Deutsch. Roth, a follower of Breslov Hasidism, was seen dancing alongside Rabbi Zelig Katzenelbogen, head of the Neturei Karta institutions, and Rabbi Shalom Yitzhak Yakovovitz, a leader of the Satmar community in Williamsburg, New York.
Conscription Debate at the Heart of Politics
This timing has injected added political significance into the report, coming as the country navigates fierce public debates over military service for yeshiva students and coalition dynamics with Haredi parties. While the song explicitly expresses opposition to state authority, the report does not suggest that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was involved in the event or shares the views expressed in the lyrics.
Observers have drawn parallels to a similar controversy in March 2025 involving Yitzhak Goldknopf, then-housing minister and leader of United Torah Judaism. Footage broadcast by Channel 12 showed Goldknopf dancing to the same controversial tune alongside young yeshiva students chanting anti-conscription slogans. The latest report involving the prime minister's relative thrusts the intersection of Haredi protests, military draft disputes, and the political establishment back into the spotlight.
Family Background and Privacy
Noa Roth, the prime minister's daughter from his first marriage to Dr. Miki Haran, became religiously observant and married Daniel Roth. The couple practices an ultra-Orthodox lifestyle and generally maintains a low public profile. According to previous reports, they have five children.
The family has occasionally drawn media attention around major life events. In July 2022, the couple welcomed their fifth child, Nathan. Reports at the time noted that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited his daughter following the birth, while prominent Rabbi Yaakov Meir Schechter served as the sandak and mohel during the traditional circumcision ceremony.
