Almost half of all electric scooter and bicycle owners in Israel have reported that their vehicle was stolen at least once, according to a recent survey conducted by Ituran through the Geocartography Institute.

According to the survey findings, 45% of vehicle owners who participated experienced theft at least once. Among those who reported a theft, 11% stated that their vehicle was stolen twice, while 4% reported being targeted three times.

The survey also examined the places of residence of participants who reported thefts. The data shows that 31% of them live in Jerusalem, 28% in Tel Aviv and the central region, and 20% in the Sharon area.

These figures are published against the backdrop of a significant rise in the use of electric scooters and bicycles in Israel. Company estimates indicate that there are currently about 400,000 electric vehicles used for daily commutes, primarily in urban areas.

Ituran representatives note that alongside the surge in the number of users, the need for tracking and security measures is also growing. Gil Sheratzky, a director at the company, stated that more than 13,000 TICK TRACK systems have been installed on electric bicycles and scooters so far, noting that over 80% of the vehicles stolen and tracked using the system have been successfully recovered and returned to their owners.
