Western Wall Prayers Held for Neria Leiter Severely Wounded in Terror Attack

Dozens of people gathered at the Western Wall in Jerusalem for a special prayer service for Neria Leiter, who was critically wounded in a ramming attack on Route 443 and is fighting for his life at Shaare Zedek Medical Center.
Prayer Gathering at the Western Wall
The gathering was organized following a social media appeal by journalist Michael Shemesh. "I was asked to share: People of Israel, today's terror attack severely wounded Neria Leiter, the brother of the late Moshe Leiter who fell in the Gaza Strip at the beginning of the war," Shemesh wrote. Dozens responded to the call to pray for his recovery.
"I believe in the power of prayer and that when the people of Israel unite, miracles happen. Neria needs a miracle," wrote his father, Israel's Ambassador to the United States Yechiel Leiter.
Severe Injury in Route 443 Attack
Neria Leiter, 38, the son of Ambassador Yechiel Leiter, was seriously injured in a car-ramming attack near Beit Horon in the Benjamin region. He was operating a Judea and Samaria District police vehicle alongside a policewoman during a joint operation by the Israel Police and the IDF when a terrorist deliberately rammed their car. The terrorist was shot and killed at the scene by security forces.
Leiter was evacuated to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem suffering from severe head trauma. The hospital stated that after life-saving measures, he underwent a complex neurosurgical operation lasting several hours. His condition remains critical and life-threatening.
The Leiter family previously lost their eldest son, Maj. (res.) Moshe Yedidya Leiter, who fell in November 2023 during combat in Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip. Neria continued his reserve service despite his brother's death, completing hundreds of reserve duty days since October 7.
