An indictment was filed this morning (Thursday) against a 33-year-old resident of the village of Nein near Afula on suspicion of arson. The incident took place last month at night, when a report was received at the police 100 emergency call center regarding a truck that caught fire at a truck parking lot in the Beit Shean industrial zone. Fire and rescue forces arrived at the scene and extinguished the blaze, which caused heavy damage to the truck, valued at approximately 700,000 shekels. Police officers launched an investigation into the circumstances of the case, and following joint operations with a fire investigator, it was determined that the fire was caused by arson using flammable material. During the investigation, dozens of security camera footage were collected, identifying a suspicious vehicle that arrived in the area shortly before the fire broke out. Investigators continued to track the vehicle's movement on the day of the incident, eventually obtaining footage from a gas station in the north showing the suspect with an uncovered face filling jerrycans with fuel on his way to the arson site. With the investigation turning public, the suspect was arrested. Police stated that his detention was extended periodically. This morning, upon the conclusion of the investigation phase, the Northern District Prosecutor's Office is expected to file an indictment against him, alongside a request for his detention until the end of the legal proceedings.
