Bar-Ilan University Professor Demands Publication of Full Plan in Court
Bar-Ilan University Professor Shahar Nevo demanded the full publication of his 20-page controversial plan during a court hearing, while strongly objecting to any psychiatric evaluation.

Professor Shahar Nevo, a 60-year-old mathematics lecturer at Bar-Ilan University, appeared at the Central District Court in Lod on Sunday, demanding the publication of all 20 pages of a controversial plan he authored. During the hearing, Nevo argued that releasing only the first page presented a distorted picture of his intentions.
"During the previous hearing, I was told that the openness of the proceedings is important. I understand that only the first page of my 20-page plan was published," Nevo stated in court. "The first page portrays me as someone declaring war on the people of Israel all at once. In fact, the main part is on pages 2 to 20, and I would ask that they be published." He further claimed that public figures Moshe Feiglin and Uri Melamed should have stood trial before him, and requested a transfer to the religious wing of Ayalon Prison.
Addressing the court regarding his mental health, Nevo firmly objected to undergoing any psychiatric evaluation. "I have not been psychiatrically examined in the past. I haven't approached those areas and I don't want to approach them. I think I am doing just fine," he said, emphasizing that he held a professorship while drafting the plan. State representatives confirmed they were not seeking a psychiatric evaluation, noting that Nevo expressed himself in a rational and composed manner during interrogations and court proceedings.
Defense attorneys announced that after reviewing the investigative materials, they agreed on the existence of prima facie evidence, though they argued the reality is much milder than the indictment suggests. Judge Eliana Danieli ruled that sufficient evidence and grounds for detention exist, and declined to order a psychiatric evaluation against his will due to the explicit opposition from both the defense and the state.
Nevo was indicted last month on serious charges including preparation for an act of terror, extortion by threats, and obstruction of justice. According to the indictment, Nevo spent over three years formulating a plan dubbed "Ait," which allegedly aimed to establish cells carrying out attacks against Arab civilians to cause mass displacement. Following the indictment, Bar-Ilan University suspended him indefinitely.
