Nazareth Court Indicts Two Sisters From Migdal HaEmek on Drug Charges
Two sisters from Migdal HaEmek were indicted at the Nazareth District Court for possessing dangerous drugs worth tens of thousands of shekels following a routine traffic stop.

An indictment was filed at the Nazareth District Court against two sisters from Migdal HaEmek for possessing large quantities of dangerous drugs worth tens of thousands of shekels. The case unfolded after one of the sisters was pulled over during a routine traffic stop in the city.
According to the indictment filed by Deputy Northern District Prosecutor Noy Shitrit, the incident took place on October 9. Police officers in Migdal HaEmek stopped the 23-year-old younger sister for a random check while she was driving with a 14-year-old minor as a passenger. Officers noticed the driver tampering with a black box, attempting to conceal it beneath the driver's seat. A heavy odor of drugs emanated from the vehicle, and the driver refused repeated orders to hand over the box.
"The officer repeatedly demanded that she surrender the box, but she refused, resisted detention, and the officer was forced to arrest her," said Staff Sergeant Rami Al Asad, a criminal investigator with the Migdal HaEmek police. "He was astonished to find a wide variety of dangerous drugs inside the box, valued at tens of thousands of shekels. Everything was portioned into small bags, raising immediate suspicions of intent to traffic. The driver was also informed of suspected driving under the influence and drug possession not for personal use."
Subsequent drug tests conducted at the station returned positive results, though the driver denied any involvement, claiming the drugs did not belong to her and that she was unaware of their presence. Two days later, her 28-year-old sister arrived at the station with an attorney, claiming ownership of all the drugs for personal use and demanding her sibling's release.
Investigators ultimately concluded that the driver was fully aware of the illicit cargo, citing her attempts to hide the box and resist police orders. Consequently, the District Court charged both sisters with drug offenses. Defense counsel declined to comment on the matter.
