A novel tissue-preserving breast augmentation technique is set to launch in Israel this month, aiming to minimize tissue trauma and significantly shorten recovery times. Dr. Eran Milt, a senior plastic and reconstructive surgeon at Sheba Medical Center, will be the first in the country to perform the procedure.

The specialized equipment has already arrived at his Tel-Aviv clinic, and Dr. Milt is scheduled to undergo specialized training this month before performing the first operations. According to the surgeon, the method directly addresses patient feedback in consultations, where women increasingly ask about recovery duration and minimizing time away from work while seeking natural results.

How the New Method Works

Traditional breast augmentation involves creating a pocket for the implant by surgically separating surrounding tissues. The new technique, known as Preservé, utilizes a specialized tool and a balloon inserted through a small incision. The balloon is inflated in a controlled manner to create the implant pocket without requiring muscle detachment, as the implant is placed above the chest muscle using a specialized sleeve.

Dr. Milt notes that while the goal is to reduce trauma and accelerate recovery, the method is not suitable for every patient. Suitability depends on breast structure, tissue quality, and the desired aesthetic outcome.

Faster Recovery and Return to Work

Suitable candidates can be discharged shortly after the procedure and, in some cases, return to work the following day. However, recovery rates vary based on individual healing, job type, and surgical specifics, while physical activity is resumed gradually under medical supervision.

Developed by medical technology firm Establishment Labs, the manufacturer of Motiva implants, Preservé was launched in Brazil in February 2025 and has since expanded internationally. A study published this year in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal evaluated 159 patients across five US centers, showing that about half of respondents returned to daily activities within a day. Nevertheless, experts emphasize that clinical experience remains relatively early, requiring longer-term follow-up.
