Police in Rahat confiscated multiple weapons, ammunition magazines, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition, including suspected stolen IDF military bullets, following a series of overnight shooting incidents in the southern city.

During targeted raids, officers recovered three Glock pistols, extended 9mm magazines, M-16 rifle magazines, and hundreds of 5.56mm cartridges, alongside tactical gear including gloves and a balaclava. Several suspects were arrested on charges of weapons possession and involvement in the shootings.

The latest seizures compound a series of recent police operations in the city that have uncovered three M-16 assault rifles, an additional Glock, a Carl Gustav submachine gun, and makeshift firearms. Law enforcement also recovered caches of ammunition stored inside unexpected containers, including a four-liter jerrycan filled with rounds and a specialized box containing 9mm bullets.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the origin of the stolen military ammunition as heightened security measures remain in place across Rahat. Police officials emphasize that despite ongoing arrests and increased patrols, combating the widespread proliferation of illegal weapons in the city remains a complex and protracted challenge.
