An indictment for attempted murder has been filed against a 25-year-old resident of Arraba who allegedly attacked his brother with an axe during a dispute over work quality at a construction site in Yir'on. The incident, which occurred on October 8, 2026, initially appeared to be a workplace accident until police uncovered evidence of a violent assault.

Dispute and Emergency Call

According to the indictment filed by the Northern District Prosecutor's Office at the Nazareth District Court, the two brothers arrived at the renovation site to perform construction work. After the victim criticized his brother's work methods, the suspect reportedly picked up an axe and struck him in the head.

Following the attack, the suspect fled the scene in the vehicle the brothers had used to arrive at the site. While on the run, he dialed the police emergency hotline and confessed, stating: "I killed him, I killed him, I hit him in the head."

Manhunt and Arrest

Police launched a widespread manhunt involving numerous units and a police helicopter. The suspect was eventually located hiding in a bush along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, where he was arrested and taken in for questioning.

The victim was evacuated in serious condition to the Ziv Medical Center in Safed. Superintendent Haim Biton, commander of the Safed police station, remarked on the case: "This is an incident that miraculously did not end in murder. It was initially classified as a workplace accident, but took a decisive turn thanks to the professional work of our officers and forensic investigators."

The prosecution has requested that the defendant be held in custody until the conclusion of legal proceedings. He faces charges of attempted murder, obstruction of justice, and driving without a license.
